Project Details
Dionne is a vibrant actress and social-media personality who inspires thousands of followers with messages of confidence, faith, and positivity. Behind the carefully crafted image, however, she has spent years battling depression, insecurity, and the fear that she will never measure up to her lifelong best friend, Unique. Unique appears to have everything Dionne desires: a loving husband, a joyful daughter, a successful career, and an unshakable sense of peace. But beneath her quiet strength, Unique is carrying a devastating secret—she has been diagnosed with terminal Stage 4 metaplastic breast cancer and may have only days or weeks left to live. When the two women gather for their familiar weekly meetup at a neighborhood café, their usual laughter and lighthearted conversation gradually give way to an unexpected moment of truth. Dionne confesses that her confident public image is a façade and reveals the depression she has hidden for five years. Just as she prepares to leave, Unique finally admits that she is dying. As years of silence, comparison, fear, and misplaced protection fall away, Dionne and Unique realize that each has been hiding her pain to preserve the other’s happiness. Choosing honesty over appearances, the two friends reintroduce themselves to one another—not as the women they pretended to be, but as the beautifully imperfect women they truly are. Weekly Meetup is a heartfelt faith-based drama about friendship, mental health, grief, sisterhood, and freedom that comes when we allow ourselves to be fully known.
