The Buyer
About the Job
ROLE DESCRIPTION THE BUYER is a warm, confident art buyer interested in purchasing Isaiah and Marcus's unusual handmade creation. Relaxed, personable, observant, and surprisingly difficult to unsettle, the Buyer has the energy of someone who has encountered plenty of strange artists and stranger artwork before. The character should NOT be played as creepy, threatening, or obviously mysterious. The performance works best when the Buyer seems completely comfortable while everyone else is increasingly uncomfortable. This role begins as a voice heard during a phone conversation and later appears on camera. Seeking a performer with natural conversational delivery, distinctive vocal presence, subtle humor, excellent listening skills, and the ability to make unusual dialogue sound completely ordinary. Unknown and emerging actors are encouraged to submit.
