MARCUS REED is Isaiah’s longtime friend, roommate, and creative partner. Practical, intelligent, observant, and dryly funny, Marcus is the person who finishes what others start. He edits, organizes, solves problems, and keeps their creative life moving while mounting financial pressure strains their friendship. Beneath his controlled exterior is a fear that he has become invisible while helping someone else’s ideas survive. Marcus cares deeply about Isaiah, even when frustration, money, and questions of creative ownership make that difficult to express. Seeking an exceptional Black/African American actor with strong naturalistic screen presence, active listening, restraint, emotional range, and excellent chemistry. The performance requires an actor who can communicate affection, exhaustion, frustration, humor, and hurt without overplaying them. The Marcus actor may also portray an unsettling alternate version/reflection of Marcus. This requires subtle behavioral changes rather than exaggerated “evil” acting. Unknown and emerging actors are strongly encouraged to submit. Extensive professional credits are not required. Acting ability, emotional truth, chemistry, reliability, and ability to take direction are the priorities.
