Set in East Los Angeles, Caramelo follows a talented 17-year-old boxer named Caramelo whose life and promising athletic future are upended when his undocumented mother, Maria, is abruptly detained by ICE. As he navigates the shock, emotional paralysis, and bureaucratic labyrinth of the immigration system, he must confront the harsh realities of separation while clinging to the unconditional love and faith his mother instilled in him.
