SHARED CROSSING investigates one of the most fascinating and least understood phenomena at the threshold of death: the Shared Death Experience. Through firsthand accounts, expert interviews, scientific inquiry, and cinematic re-creations, the film explores reports from family members, caregivers, hospice workers, and medical professionals who describe witnessing aspects of a dying person's journey beyond this life. Unlike Near-Death Experiences, which occur when individuals come close to death themselves, Shared Death Experiences are reported by healthy observers who remain fully conscious and alive. These experiences often include perceptions of light beings, deceased loved ones appearing and disappearing into the light, spirit leaving body, out-of-body perception, religious figures, and accompanying the dying into another realm. At the center of the film is William Peters, founder of the Shared Crossing Project and the world's leading researcher on SDEs. Drawing upon more than two decades of research and thousands of documented accounts, the film examines what these remarkable experiences may reveal about consciousness, mortality, grief, and the enduring bonds of love. SHARED CROSSING combines personal testimony, medical perspectives, and emerging research to challenge conventional assumptions about death while offering hope, comfort, and a deeper understanding of the end-of-life experience.
