Malik
About the Job
OFFICER MALIK JOHNSON — Male, Black, late 20s to early 30s Malik Johnson is Daniel Price’s police partner. He is observant, thoughtful, and more attentive to the human side of police work than Price. Malik notices patterns that other people overlook and becomes increasingly concerned about a series of cases involving officers. His investigation puts him in a dangerous position as he gets closer to information that powerful people do not want uncovered. Malik has a natural partnership with Price. Their scenes should feel like two experienced partners who trust each other, even when they don’t completely agree. Performance qualities: intelligent, observant, grounded, empathetic, confident, quietly serious. Casting note: The actor should have strong natural chemistry with the actor playing Daniel Price and be comfortable with investigative/dramatic material.
