Project Notes

Cenozoic is a wry, comedic drama which alternates between present and past, following a group of friends in college who organize an art exhibition which beautifies recent life through the use of wardrobe as a form of political expression, acknowledging, contextualizing and paying homage to different modes of liberation through use of symbolic imagery, appellations and plot/character devices. It cements Black leisure as a radical act by establishing that community is pivotal to dismantling oppressive systems and reinforcing the importance of unrestricted third spaces. Cenozoic is recent life. Beauty as deception, desire as formlessness.
