War Within A War
A veteran mother of two children struggles to conform to suburban family life, a lifestyle that cannot compare to the trauma she inherited during her deployment. After being on the front lines in war zones and longing to be with her family, she is welcomed back by her business-occupied husband, technology-dependent daughter, and quiet son; in her eyes, she feels like an afterthought. A negative relationship with her father, which motivated her to join the military in the first place, has now seeped into her personal life. The most innocent moments of daily life trigger traumatic memories that further fracture her familial connection. On top of handling the duties of a mother, she must also manage the battle within her own head, immersed in a deep depression with flashes of PTSD. All she is asking for is a signal from her racing mind to accept her family as help, rather than viewing them as a roadblock in the recovery process.
