Synopsis:

LOGLINE: A mysterious gas station, the perfect tamal, and a violent awakening collide when Alex finally chooses herself. SYNOPSIS: That Killer Feeling is a dark, surreal, violent comedy about reclaiming yourself. At its core is Alex, a woman who has spent her life hiding. Her voice, her culture, her anger - just to fit in. The mysterious gas station she’s pulled into is not just a location, but a crossroads of identity. The tamal is an ancestral connection. The store’s attendants are not simply supernatural beings; they are forces within her - love and rage - guiding her toward a choice that has always been hers to make. This film lives in contradiction: absurd yet sincere, grotesque yet playful, cosmic yet intimate. Beneath the violence and humor, this is a story about self-imposed assimilation, self-betrayal, and the terrifying, liberating act of choosing yourself.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT: That Killer Feeling emerged from the quiet, ongoing violence of assimilation… Those moments when blending in means laughing along, hiding your true self, or pretending not to notice the harm. I wanted to explore what happens when repression finally shifts into clarity, and when reclaiming identity feels both terrifying and euphoric. By framing cultural erasure as literal horror and self-acceptance as something feral and dangerous, this film uses dark comedy to expose how often we are taught to fear our own identity. The gas station exists as a liminal space where love and revenge coexist, and where choosing yourself is not gentle—it’s messy and unapologetic. Ultimately, this story is about what we bury to assimilate and to survive, and the unsettling truth that choosing yourself can feel dangerous, excessive, and ultimately liberating. That’s the killer feeling.
