Character must be mixed with African and American and another race. The parents and the difference in races will play a huge part in the story. Elijah is on his way to turning pro after an incredible college run. He is sought after and popular. Every girl wants him and every guy wants to be him. We are going to follow Elijah's journey as it is touched by his parents pending divorce, an obsessed ex girlfriend, the rejection from his community and the complications and success in his rise to fame. Those story paths are just a tip of the overall journey of this complicated character. I want a star to rise from this. I champion the new actors. I get on my fellow filmmakers about mentoring..or their lack of. When the new Black Panther was cast as a British guy, there was a gasp from the black community. There is a reason why Coogler chose this actor. I get it!I won't get into it here but it is rooted around work ethic, lack of vision, the need for instant success, no strategy, minimum availability, over cockiness and the dismissal of people who work silently in the lab. We are changing that here with good dialogue, good captivating plots and a future superstar at the center with great work ethic. Someone who appreciates someone reaching out to illuminate their career path. ... I need an actor who knows how to simmer in the beats of the story. Let's not rush the words, let's release them organically. Let moments that need to breathe do just that. I will be having conversations with potentials....
