This is a physically and emotionally demanding comedic role that requires the ability to play absolute sincerity in deeply absurd circumstances. Astrid is not crazy in a performative sense, she is disturbingly reasonable. The humor lives in her conviction, and the tragedy lives right underneath it. An actor who can hold both simultaneously without winking at the audience is essential.
