Annie Murtagh-Monks has cast 38 film and television projects in Western Australia and has been an acting coach on 16 of those. Films she has worked on include “Rabbit Proof Fence,” “Japanese Story,” “Last Train to Freo,” “Drift” and “Pulse”. Murtagh-Monks assisted the early careers of several internationally successful Western Australian actors and helped cast them in their first screen roles.
These include Heath Ledger, Isla Fisher, Emma Booth and Jai Courtney. In 2004 she founded PAC Script Lab, which held public readings of Western Australian feature film scripts. In 2014 Murtagh-Monks co-founded the Western Australian Chapter of Women in Film & TV International. She is the treasurer of the Casting Guild of Australia and lectures screen acting part-time at Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts. Throughout 2017-2019 Murtagh-Monks was casting director and acting coach on Matchbox Pictures/ABC’s 60-episode television show, “The Heights”, series one and two. At the end of last year she was awarded CGA’s national Best Casting in a TV Series award for the first series of “The Heights”.
