Shaheen Baig: We needed actors that weren’t afraid of some improvisation. There had to be an element of that in filming. Not all actors like to improvise, and we had to think about that. Certainly when we were casting the young roles, we did a lot of work with them. We worked from the script. We improvised around the script. We tried lots of different things just to see what their focus was, how was their repetition, their concentration.
