The Anchor (Shirley Comphey)
Nys Weatherization (Non-union)
About the Job
**MUST BE FLUENT IN SPANISH AND ENGLISH. Spanish dialect should be as neutral as possible since our audience is the entire state of NY.
Need for clarity, comedy, improv ability and speed for Spanish.
Shirley is the buttoned up anchor delivering the news from a residential kitchen. She's not part of the family- just "reporting from home"-and her comfort in comparison to her reporters utter discomfort is part of the joke. She leans into body language that feels a little too relaxed for an anchor. Her comfort and his discomfort is nothing out of the ordinary.
Despite the chaos happening to her colleague, she stays unbothered, offering empathetic but disconnected reactions, bordering on smug with the practiced calm of a real anchor.
