About the Job
Iris (40s) is an unhoused single mother traveling across New Jersey with her 8-year-old son, Eli, living out of a beat-up car as they search for a place to call home. What feels like an adventure to Eli is a relentless grind for Iris, who is resourceful, protective, and constantly on edge, juggling exhaustion, anger, and fear while still trying to shield him from the worst of their reality. She is tough, guarded, and practical, but cracks of vulnerability show through in quiet, private moments where the weight of their situation catches up with her. Note: For this role, we are also open to considering actresses auditioning together with their real sons (ages 7–9).
