A powerful, domineering presence who controls his family through money and force of will. Financially struggling after losing a major client but hides it from the family. Has a long-standing affair with Lilya. On a morning walk, he encounters a naked woman running and screaming for help — and does nothing. This moral failure becomes the gravitational center of the play. Has a heart episode toward the end. Complex, charismatic, deeply flawed. Note: Russian accent
