Grace Was A Time Traveler

The story follows Aria, a 31-year-old woman attending a support group for people affected by "super-powered" humans, which serves as a metaphor for dealing with loved ones with mental illness. Through flashbacks, we learn about her relationship with her grandmother Grace, who she describes as a "time traveler" - a way of depicting Grace's struggle with Alzheimer's. Aria's memories show her waiting for Grace during her mental "time travels," while trying to cope with her grandmother's increasingly frequent absences. The story weaves between past and present, showing Aria's perspective as both a child and adult. Through the support group’s guidance, Aria comes to understand that despite Grace's mental wandering, their love remained constant, and Grace always found her way back to her. The story ends with Aria finding peace with her memories of Grace.The structure is cyclical, beginning and ending in the kitchen, but with a transformed understanding of time and memory.
