'Severance,' 'The Penguin' Lead 2025 Primetime Emmy Nominations

The nominations for the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards have officially dropped, and the competition is fierce.

Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows) and Brenda Song (Running Point) announced the majority of this year’s nominations. The nominees for outstanding reality competition and outstanding talk series were revealed on CBS Mornings.

Apple TV+’s Severance leads the pack with 27 nominations after wrapping its second season, with HBO Max’s The Penguin in a close second with 24 nominations. The White Lotus (HBO Max) and The Studio (Apple TV+) each received 23 nominations.

The Studio now shares the distinction with The Bear for the most nominations ever racked up by a comedy series in a single year.

The 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Nate Bargatze, will be broadcast live on CBS from the Peacock Theater in L.A. on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. The show will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

Prior to the CBS ceremony, awards in the majority of the Emmys’ categories will be presented at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7.
