PROJECT TITLE: BLUR — But You Don't Sound Black PROJECT TYPE: Dramedy (Table Read) DATE & TIME: Saturday, August 22, 2026 | 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM EDT LOCATION: Zoom COMPENSATION: Unpaid/Copy Provided after 9/27 PROJECT DESCRIPTION BLUR — But You Don't Sound Black is a half-hour single-camera coming-of-age dramedy set during the 1985–86 school year in fictional Lenhart, New Jersey. The pilot follows 15-year-old Makeba Roosevelt, a fourth-wall-breaking narrator navigating questions of identity and belonging at her new high school where cliques, crushes, and cultural expectations collide, and fitting in might mean losing yourself. We are seeking actors for a virtual table read to hear the dialogue out loud. This is a relaxed, low-pressure reading— no memorization required. Scripts will be provided in advance.
