A grandmother works in the kitchen with her middle-aged daughter as she cooks for the family. She’s not instructing, just helping. Occasionally correcting. Occasionally smiling. The daughter moves confidently, but with small personal tweaks: a little more spice, a slightly different step, as the grandmother gives an inquisitive look. The small kitchen is full. Over capacity. Family members move in and out, reaching around each other, stealing bites, setting plates wherever there’s room. It’s not precious, it’s practiced.
