Suzanne
Prologue: 79 year-old filmmaker Peter Coonradt's wife Suzanne dies in his arms. A montage of stills shows the adventurous life they had together over 56 years. Now alone at home, Peter is lost. 25 -year old Jackie Shadow rings the doorbell at Peter's home. There's no answer so she breaks into the house and uses her phone to photograph Peter's belongings and mementos of his life with Suzanne. Peter comes home with groceries and catches Jackie in the act. She says she's a film student writing a paper about his body of work which no one knows about. She brazenly convinces Peter to let her move in and sleep in Suzanne's bed to "channel" her for Jackie's paper. Jackie interviews Peter and we see excerpts from his wildly different films. Jackie is gorgeous in an unforced way and she awakens Peter's Eros which had grown dormant with the aging of him and Suzanne. For her part, Jackie sees in the old man echos of the attractive adventurous artist Peter was in his younger days, as seen in the photos she digs up in her nosing around Peter's house. Thus there is an unspoken sexual undercurrent in their increasingly familiar relationship. At first Jackie is the admiring film student but she starts pressing Peter with her own version of his career. She claims he cheated on Suzanne by hiring beautiful actresses and seducing them as trophies, which Peter adamantly denies. Jackie says Suzanne found out and it broke her. She could never trust him again. Jackie says Peter caring for Suzanne as her health declined in old age was done out of guilt, not love. Jackie switches from saying she's writing a class paper to saying she's making a film with her version of Peter's life. We don't know why Jackie is fixated on Peter and Suzanne, or if her version or Peter's denial is actually true. Perhaps Jackie is a reincarnation of Suzanne seeking vengeance for Peter's infidelity. Or maybe she's a stalker fixated on Peter, whose films she admires way too much. Peter wakes up to the realization that the whole Jackie invasion was his grief-driven dream. He's left alone as before, unable to get past losing Suzanne.
