Pareidolia
Just before the High Holy Days, junior rabbi JACOB “JC” COEN confides his true beliefs to his mentor, senior rabbi AVI GOLDRING. When JC later brings his convictions to the temple board, he’s met with scepticism and resistance from its president, JUDY APPLEBAUM. Given an impossible choice to stay and maintain his composure or to leave and risk alienating his community, JC’s attempt to assert himself is met with a moment of unexpected violence meant to keep him in his place. As he prepares for the Kol Nidre service, JC must decide whether to continue serving for them or stand firm in his truth, setting a new precedent for what faith might mean.
