Synopsis:

Universal and the producing team behind PETS (Disney+) are developing a new premium documentary series about parenthood and child care in America – an intimate, stylish, and emotionally honest portrait of what modern NYC parenthood really looks like, told through the lens of one intensely competitive private preschool and kindergarten admissions season. Setting your child up for success is every parent’s dream, and parents everywhere do all they can to provide the best education for their children. But getting into a top-tier private kindergarten in Manhattan “can be just as competitive as getting into Harvard!” The stakes in this world are exceptionally high, and this journey begins earlier and demands more than anywhere else in the world. The series will follow 3 to 5 real families through one transformative year as they work with their village: admissions consultants, nannies, tutors, and the whole carefully coordinated team it takes to get their child into their dream school. Along the way, we'll capture everything that makes this year what it really is: the extracurriculars, birthday parties, family vacations, the 5 am research rabbit holes, the invisible load, and the enormous love underneath it all. This is a premium documentary series about parenthood and the village it takes to raise a child and secure the brightest possible future for them. Beautifully filmed through interviews and observational verité, this documentary series will capture the nuance and complexity of this unique landscape.

We’re especially looking for: A real family with at least one young child applying to a private Preschool or Kindergarten in New York City throughout the fall of 2026, with a start date in 2027. Must be working with, or open to working with, educational consultants. Willingness to allow us to film your family and your caregiving team, such as nannies, tutors, coaches, or admissions consultants (assuming they also provide consent), periodically over the course of a year. Please note: the documentary series won't air until long after all admissions decisions are made. This is a documentary. We are NOT looking for actors. We are looking to follow REAL families.
