Project Details
A timid fifteen-year-old Chinese girl spends the summer in 1940 San Francisco’s Chinatown and stumbles into the dressing room of the Porcelain Rose, an Asian burlesque club, where she crosses paths with a twenty-one-year-old Lena Horne at the height of her becoming — and in the space of one conversation, before one show, learns what it means to claim her own life before the world does it for her.
