When the sister later dies in prison, Celeste’s grieving husband, Byron, turns his rage on her — humiliating and punishing her for years inside their own home. As Celeste’s body begins to fail from ALS, she discovers she is pregnant and chooses her baby over treatment. When she tragically miscarries, she makes one final decision: to reclaim control of her life through medically assisted death. Quietly securing Byron’s signature without his knowledge, she prepares to leave him forever. Only after she is gone does Byron learn the truth — and realize too late that the woman he blamed for everything was the one who loved him most.
