DollKeeper is a prestige possession horror that begins as a kidnapping thriller, then mutates into something far more sinister. The first half follows Sara, who wakes locked in a strange room, convinced she’s been abducted. But what she’s truly battling is the onset of possession. Just as the audience braces for a masked killer or abduction story, the film pivots: the second half shifts to her brother Dylan, who returns home to find Sara comatose, haunted, and changing. Through Dylan’s investigation, we uncover the twisted mythology of a parasitic entity passed through generations of women. Now it’s not just about escape, it’s about whether there’s anything left of Sara to save. With the psychological depth of Hereditary, the subversive structure of Barbarian, and the visceral horror of Evil Dead Rise, DollKeeper is a genre- defying descent into identity, inheritance, and internalized evil.
