About the Job
Edward Barnes is a man struggling with depression who feels as if his life is leading him nowhere. Aspiring to become a screenwriter, he retreats to a secluded cabin to escape the pressures of his everyday life and finally make progress toward the career he so desperately longs for. Reserved and self-critical, Edward tends to mask his frustration, sadness, and self-hatred rather than openly express them. When uncomfortable, Edward becomes self-conscious and observant, but beneath that exterior, he is thoughtful, caring, and increasingly dissatisfied with where his life is headed.
