In those movies, a showdown is treated with enormous tension: two gunslingers face each other, barely moving, watching one another closely and waiting to see who will make the first move. The filmmaking stretches out the moment with long stares, narrowed eyes, twitching hands, extreme close-ups, dramatic pauses and sudden bursts of action. Everything feels incredibly serious, as though someone’s life is on the line.
