Jessica
About the Job
Playing age: 16 Charismatic and socially dominant, but NOT effortlessly confident. Jessica feels pressure to remain interesting, funny, and desirable. She hides awkwardness by making jokes, changing the subject, or turning an experience into content. She becomes more confident when a phone is recording. Jessica can be casually insensitive, but she is not malicious. Her curiosity about Mila and enjoyment of their friendship are genuine. She simply does not recognize the emotional responsibility that comes with Mila’s trust. Jessica films not because she enjoys Mila’s pain, but because she initially thinks Mila is performing, the situation looks dramatic and unusual and recording and laugh is her automatic response to intensity. - Able to shift between warmth, insecurity, and performative confidence. - Must avoid a polished or stereotypical “mean girl” performance
