Japanese Actor- Voice Over
About the Job
Think Hiroyuki Sanada in Shōgun or The Last Samurai. A voice defined by a deep chest resonance, a flat pitch that masks emotion, and sharp, tightly clipped consonant endings. Speech Style: English with a grounded, formal Japanese accent. Ideally a native Japanese speaker fluent in English. Voice that carries gravitas, authority, and conviction. Delivery: Syllable-timed and staccato. Avoid modern, casual Western inflections or standard ESL patterns. Every syllable must carry equal weight, moving with the deliberate precision of a military march. Notes for Audition: Have the actors say each word individually. Do not run words together. Use heavy, intentional pauses and let your breath carry the tension of the scene. The accent should feel centuries old—dignified, severe, and absolute.
