About the Job
Howie lives all the way downtown. He pays his bills on time. Reads contracts before signing them. His default position is that most things are probably nonsense until proven otherwise. He's not cynical, per se. Just unconvinced. He asks the kinds of questions that make people wish they'd prepared better answers. Ray finds this frustrating. But Howie finds Ray frustrating. Which is precisely why they've carried on as friends. Probably neither has managed to convince the other of very much. But on this particular night turned morning, somewhere between Ray's optimism and Howie's skepticism, maybe they change that. Or maybe not. He's smart, capable, and curious.
