Naree (yai yai) Thongthammpoom

The Atlas Of Human Accomplishment

Short Film - Woman 55 - 69 Non Union Principal 06/19/2026 Los Angeles

About the Job

Amelia’s grandmother. All lines will be spoken in Thai. A legendary Atlas accomplishment holder, family matriarch, and one of the most intimidating people in the room. Yai Yai comes from a generation that takes accomplishment very seriously and has little patience for excuses, self-pity, or incompetence. Sharp-eyed, blunt, and unintentionally hilarious, she watches Amelia’s increasingly ridiculous attempts with a mixture of skepticism, frustration, and reluctant affection. She rarely says much, but when she does, everyone listens. Her reactions alone can bring down a room. The role requires strong comedic instincts, excellent facial expressions, and the ability to play deadpan humor with complete sincerity. Thai language ability is preferred but not required. Think: the grandmother who loves you unconditionally but would never let you know she’s worried about you.
