Male presenting: Walter is a strong and tough farm worker who has grown up in a binary society. From a young age he has been coached to be the patriarch - the head of the house, and these values live deep inside him. He can’t understand Margaret's obsession with being inside Brute and he doesn’t care to. All Walter sees is an unnatural and hysterical woman who he deems crazy. With all that said Walter deeply cares for his wife, that is why he finds this all so hard and confusing. They have spent decades alone on this farm, they are all each other have. They express their love differently than you would today. They share a quiet and considerate love. He doesn’t want to see Margaret go mad. This is why he must save her at all costs. Notes: Strong emotional depth is essential to this character. Must be able to delve into the complexities of gender identity in order to portray the active inconsiderate mentality. The character needs to be grounded in reality while dealing with surrealist narratives. Physical theatre experience or understanding is a plus. The ability to learn stunt choreography and apply emotional performance. A farm keep in the 1800s who’s lived a hard laboursome life grows worrisome for his wife after her obsession in breaking into his tinkering shack and stealing his life's work is making her go mad. Walter concludes she is hysterical and ill and must save her by doing the most logical thing, destroying Brute’s body. Looking for an actor who can explore the rugged and masculine nature of this character while still engaging in the softer and loving side as he does care for his wife as he chooses to destroy his life's work for her.
