A mother in 1980s rural Georgia. Not glamorous, worn down by life, drinks, and doesn't sleep. But fiercely loving in her own fractured way. She believes she is protecting her son from a mysterious phenomenon through a ritual that crosses the line into abuse. Must be able to shift from genuine tenderness to quiet menace within the same scene. Two scenes, three lines of on-camera dialogue. Half a day to potentially one full day of shooting.
