Jersey Boys is a fast-paced, actor-driven musical featuring music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, and a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. Told in a documentary-style format sharing the story of the rise and fall of The Four Seasons. The show is structured into four “seasons,” each narrated by a different band member. Actors must navigate shifting perspectives and evolving relationships, bringing depth and individuality to each voice while maintaining strong ensemble cohesion. This is a vocally and physically demanding work. Performers are required to deliver tight harmonies, stylistically accurate vocals, and sustained energy across a wide range of iconic material, including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” Strong musicianship, precision, and stamina are essential. Beyond the music, Jersey Boys is grounded in character. It explores ambition, loyalty, conflict, and the personal cost of success, following four working-class young men as they navigate fame, friendship, and identity over several decades. Performers must balance authenticity with theatricality, capturing both the public personas and private realities of these men. Winner of Best Musical at both the Tony Awards and Laurence Olivier Awards, Jersey Boys offers performers the opportunity to take on rich, multi-dimensional roles within a tightly constructed, ensemble-driven production.
