Home Needs No Translation (MA thesis film)
After a serious fall in New York, Hui-Ping, an elderly Taiwanese immigrant, is diagnosed with aphasia and loses the ability to speak. Her estranged son, Ying-Hao, comes from overseas to look after her. He hopes to learn why his mother left him and Taiwan so many years ago, but their reunion is made difficult by a deep language barrier. On the eve of her discharge, Ying-Hao discovers a hidden tragedy from her past that she has tried to forget for years.
