Neal appears in multiple forms throughout the story — as a mission contact, a warning presence, and ultimately as someone more human and emotionally present. Despite these shifts, his essence remains consistent: he observes more than he speaks and carries a strong sense of internal control. He can be cold, precise, and functional under pressure, yet also warm and deeply empathetic in quieter moments. There is a subtle emotional intelligence in his presence, as if he understands Judy’s internal struggle even when she doesn’t. Neal exists both as a real character within the world and as a possible projection of Judy’s subconscious — a guide who pushes her, challenges her, and ultimately helps lead her toward clarity.
