Layson Carter
Beneath The Blue Ice
About the Job
18+ to play 21. *MUST have hockey experience and/or be very comfortable skating on ice. Layson is a young man of intense loyalty and deeply buried emotional life, who has constructed a persona of easy confidence and charm to keep the people around him from getting too close. He channels his unresolved grief over his father's death into hockey with a devotion that borders on self-punishment, equating athletic excellence with worthiness and love. His protectiveness of the people he cares about is genuine and fierce, but frequently expresses itself as control or deflection rather than vulnerability, a pattern he is slowly and painfully forced to unlearn. He is funnier and more perceptive than he lets on, capable of real tenderness, and deeply attentive to the people he loves in ways he rarely announces. His central struggle is learning that letting someone in does not guarantee loss, and that ambition and devotion are not mutually exclusive.*While no nudity is required, talent must be comfortable with intimacy (passionate kissing, caressing and implied sex). An on-set intimacy coordinator will be present for all levels of intimacy. Additionally, there will be ice hockey play for which a stunt coordinator will be present.
