Mr. Becker
Exposing The Homeroom Princess
About the Job
Male, late 30s-early 40s, antagonist. Former hometown football star whose cut-short career has curdled into bitterness and obsession with molding his son into the player he never got to be. Appearance: Weathered, athletic build gone a little soft around the middle. Wears a permanent game-day uniform of team caps, faded polos, and jackets with old Sea Breeze or college logos, like he’s clinging to his glory years. His posture is tense, jaw often clenched, and there’s a coiled energy to him--like he’s always one bad play away from exploding. On the sidelines or in the stands, he’s the loudest, most aggressive presence in the crowd. Personality: Intense, controlling, and thin-skinned, with a quick temper. He frames his verbal and physical abuse as “toughening Wes up,” convinced that softness is weakness and feelings are distractions. He’s deeply invested in appearances--how his son looks to scouts, how they look to the town--and reads any hint of disobedience as a personal betrayal. Underneath the bluster is a man terrified of being irrelevant, who would rather bulldoze his own kid’s boundaries than face his own regrets.
