Male, 60-70s, Black, rural southern Earnest is sharp, observant, and quietly stubborn. He carries himself with the ease of someone who has lived a long, full life in one place. There’s dignity in his stillness. His humor is dry, almost imperceptible, and he rarely concedes an argument outright. Beneath the bickering is deep loyalty. He has likely known Walter for decades – long enough that irritation and affection are indistinguishable. Actor must be comfortable driving a small motor boat and embodying someone physically capable but aged. Strong face, strong eyes, minimalism preferred over theatrics.
