Amelia Earhart was just the sixteenth woman to earn her pilot’s license in the USA. She was a record breaking aviator, known worldwide during her career. In 1937, she and her navigator, Fred Noonan, disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean during an attempt to fly around the world.
