The Director / Baz Heart
Down Under / Pilot
About the Job
Sebastian “Baz” Heart is the passionate, overly dramatic artistic director of OldCastle’s Regional Australian Theatre Society (R.A.T.S.). After flaming out in Los Angeles, he returned home to become a bigger fish in a much smaller pond. He is every bit the theatre diva – expressive, flamboyant, and utterly convinced of his own genius. Baz thrives on chaos, grand gestures, and emotional monologues about the importance of Art (with a capital A). He regularly clashes with Mickey and the Tradies due to their no-nonsense practicality, but underneath the theatrics is a genuine love of performance and a desire to leave his mark. This role suits an actor with strong comedic instincts, bold physicality, and the ability to lean into big choices while still keeping the character human and grounded. Self-Tape Requirements: - Please read 'Down Under Pilot S01E01 - Baz Excerpt' which has been uploaded as a side. - American accent required (theatrical, expressive encouraged). - Big comedic choices welcome; bold physicality encouraged. - A reader off-camera is completely fine.
