About the Job
Female, 25–35, Any Ethnicity. Major Supporting Role. Laura is a young woman who begins experiencing a series of subtle but escalating disturbances that affect her senses, emotions, and perception of reality. At first she is composed, rational, and grounded, but as the phenomenon intensifies, her environment becomes increasingly unstable. Sounds shift, objects feel “off,” and her instincts tell her something is deeply wrong even when she tries to convince herself otherwise. Her performance requires emotional nuance — a gradual progression from calm observation to confusion, fear, and full-blown panic as her world fractures around her. Laura documents some of her experiences through personal video entries, but she also appears in traditionally shot scenes as her mental and physical stability declines. The character needs an actress skilled in naturalistic acting, capable of conveying: • subtle unease beneath a controlled exterior • sensory disorientation and growing paranoia • vulnerability and emotional fragmentation • a climactic moment of terror as her perception breaks violently • the ability to move from grounded realism into a chaotic, altered state Laura’s arc is intense, atmospheric, and emotionally driven — a psychologically demanding role requiring depth, presence, and strong internal work.
