Peter
About the Job
Character Description: Peter is the neighborhood mailman with a larger-than-life personality and absolutely no problem making himself part of the family’s business. Quirky, charismatic, quick-witted, and sarcastic, Peter often becomes the voice of reason when nobody is listening to reason. He has been delivering mail in the Bronx long enough to know the neighborhood, the personalities, and probably a little more about everybody’s business than he should. Peter observes everything. While the family is caught up in the chaos of Christmas, sibling rivalry, and their own problems, Peter has a way of stepping in with an unexpected piece of wisdom—usually wrapped inside a joke or sarcastic remark. Peter should have strong comedic timing and improvisational skills, as the actor will have opportunities to play off the other characters and bring spontaneous humor and personality to the role. The performer should be comfortable making bold choices and adding small physical or verbal moments that make Peter memorable without overpowering the scene. Peter may think he is simply delivering the mail, but whenever he arrives, he delivers commentary too. Casting: Ideally tall, although height is not essential. We are primarily looking for an actor with strong presence, natural charisma, comedic instincts, and the ability to improvise. Personality: Quirky • Charismatic • Sarcastic • Observant • Funny • Wise • Unpredictable • Larger than life Rehearsals Saturday or Sunday AM in Beverly Hills.
