About the Job
Jamie is Emily’s “best friend” turned lover: a smug, seemingly charming accountant who oozes fake warmth and plays the long con. He positions himself as Emily’s confidant and “true love,” showering her and the kids with gifts and promises of jobs and tuition, but underneath he’s opportunistic, cowardly, and deeply calculating. He lies about his status, pretends to own a Beverly Hills villa, diverts company wages to finance his lifestyle, and tries to frame Jennifer and Mark for embezzlement. Jamie is quick to provoke Mark, quick to hide behind Emily when things go wrong, and quickest of all to sell everyone else out when he’s caught. He moves from smirking homewrecker to desperate con man dragged away in handcuffs.
