About the Job
Romany once intended to become a police officer but changed course after a traumatic event tied to law enforcement. His uncle Carlos had a best friend named Lt. Rafael Delgado, an NYPD officer who was the kind of man kids looked up to, But, Rafael’s life was collapsing. One night Rafael called Carlos asking to hang out. Carlos declined because he was spending time with his daughters and told Rafael they would link up another time. That night Rafael shot himself in the head. The shock shattered Carlos. Carlos spent years replaying the moment, convinced that if he had simply gone to see his friend, Rafael might still be alive. Romany witnessed the devastation.
