About the Job

BellaDonna has always operated in predominantly white spaces. While she has had interactions with Black peers during schooling and in limited professional contexts, these were never in spaces where Black people formed the majority. She has internalized subtle stereotypes without overtly believing them, forming a layered worldview that is both self-aware and conflicted. Her current job at the urban fashion company is her first experience navigating a workspace dominated by Black colleagues. She has begun to notice her implicit biases and feels self-conscious about them. She is also processing feelings of guilt, curiosity, and fascination at how her colleagues’ lives and backgrounds differ from hers. She is inquisitive and self-reflective, often engaging in deep internal dialogue about identity, race, and privilege. However, she can also be defensive, particularly when confronted with her upbringing or perceived biases. BellaDonna is navigating a space where her identity is questioned by others and herself, sparking moments of vulnerability, humor, and tension.
