The Things We Drive Past

Short Film - Woman 16 - 17 Non Union Principal 10/31/2025 Los Angeles

About the Job

The Girl is around the same age as the Boy, grounded yet deeply empathetic. She carries a quiet strength that shows through small gestures rather than words. Where he withdraws, she reaches out; where he hides, she tries to understand. Her love is patient and genuine, but it is also worn down by uncertainty and the feeling of being shut out. She senses his pain but never fully grasps its depth, caught between wanting to help him and protecting herself from the weight of his silence. Over time, her warmth begins to fade into exhaustion. The Girl becomes the mirror through which the Boy sees what he is becoming, forcing him to confront his own fear of abandonment. Her heartbreak is not loud or dramatic, but steady and real, shaped by the moment she realizes that love cannot save someone who refuses to be seen. She represents both the hope for connection and the strength it takes to walk away. Requires limited intimacy (nothing too crazy just hugging and maybe kissing just to portray you are romantic partners) Please be aware that I am a high-school-level director, so I am a minor.
