The Things We Drive Past

Short Film - Man 16 - 17 Non Union Principal 10/31/2025 Los Angeles

About the Job

The Boy is in his late teens to early twenties, quiet and introspective but carrying a constant tension beneath the surface. He is the product of a home defined by shouting and distance, shaped by the fear of abandonment that took root in childhood. Though he promises himself he will never become like his parents, their patterns live inside him. At first, he appears gentle and sincere, the kind of person who listens more than he speaks. Over time, that calm turns brittle. When his relationship begins to slip away, he clings to it out of fear rather than love, confusing silence with safety and distance with control. His frustration builds in private moments until it spills out in the same space where his father once lost his temper. Beneath his anger is heartbreak and a desperate wish to be understood. The Boy’s journey is about confronting the fear that drives him and learning that breaking the cycle sometimes means accepting loss. Requires intimacy with a female actor (nothing too crazy, just hugging and maybe a kiss or 2). Please be aware that I am a high-school-level director, so I am a minor.
