About the Job
Mike Avery is a LAPD detective with a haunted past and a dry sense of humor sharp enough to cut through Kevlar. He's been on the job long enough to be cynical, but not so long that he’s stopped trying. Behind the sardonic edge is a man who still believes in justice — even if he’d rather pretend he doesn’t. Mike is observant, emotionally intelligent, and extremely uncomfortable with that fact. He’d rather talk about sandwiches than feelings, but when it matters, he shows up. In relationships? Kind of a disaster. He doesn’t trust easy, opens up even less. Think: Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) Boyd Holbrook (Narcos) John Krasinski with baggage COMEDIC TIMING IS KEY. Mike's humor is dry, awkward, a little broken. Not sitcom-slick — real and restrained. His lines land best when he’s not trying to be funny.
